- Check Windows version in Windows 11:
Step 1: Click on the Windows Start menu icon at the bottom left of your screen.
Step 2: Click on the Settings icon (gear icon) in the Start menu.
Step 3: In the Settings window, click on the System option.
Step 4: Click on the About option in the left pane.
Step 5: Scroll down to the Windows specifications section to see your Windows 11 version and build number.
- Check Windows version in Windows 10:
Step 1: Click on the Windows Start menu icon at the bottom left of your screen.
Step 2: Click on the Settings icon (gear icon) in the Start menu.
Step 3: In the Settings window, click on the System option.

Step 1: Open the Command Prompt by typing “cmd” in the Windows Start menu search box and selecting “Command Prompt” from the search results.
Step 2: In the Command Prompt window, type “ver” and press Enter.
Step 3: The version and build number of your Windows installation will be displayed in the Command Prompt window.
Note: The ver command will only show the version and build number of the currently running Windows installation. If you have multiple versions of Windows installed on your computer, you will need to boot into each version to check its version and build number separately.
